Finally a Kings blogger on this site that actually writes about what's happening in Kings world and not what he had to drink and eat at the game and what fights he had with opposing fans. Keep up the good work and thanks Eklund for finding someone worth reading.

Yea. Announcing is like a good craft beer to me. Everyone has their favorites for different reasons and it's kind of hard to argue on that preference.

Personally I just like the way Hahn calls the game. Good flow and good energy. I like Miller and Fox for a different reason...Razor and Ralph for a different reason...and Jeanneret just because he's awesome haha.

Holy poop, the Kings got a real writer.

I've always like Dustin Brown, he is one of the players that I would have loved to see end up in Pittsburgh next to Crosby.

Think Eklund canned Barry?

This guy is legit. Barry was usually good for a laugh though

Brown is the player that I covet for my team the most in this league. I remember the deadline rumours about him the year the Kings won the cup and was hoping him landing in Vancouver were true. Glad to see that he's locked up to a team with a fan base that realize his value. Next up - get Willie healthy as he is one of the most underrated shutdown men in the league and we may see LA hoist the cup again in 2014

Barry said he would chime in from time to time. Ek also invited him to do just that. I, for one, will be looking for his next.... Barry always stirs it up and makes me laugh out loud. I am pleased with the new guy, good hockey talk is always nice and is mostly lacking with MB's blogs.

Jordan Nolan has now avoided arbitration as well signing a 2-year deal worth 700k a season. This leaves the RFAs to just two now with roughly $1.5M to spare. Writing on the walls is certainly there for one of Kyle Clifford or Trevor Lewis.

The Kings have 9 defensemen included in the current cap hit, and they certainly aren't going to carry that many into the season. You are allowed to be 10% over the cap until training camp starts, meaning we could theoretically give Clifford and Lewis $3MM each and still be ok until traning camp. Assuming we don't make any other roster changes, either Willie Mitchell is going to be put on Injured Non-Roster at the start of training camp and we'll have $3.5MM of money to play with, or he's healthy and we either trade, demote, or waive two of Ellerby/Martinez/Schultz.

Lombardi certainly isn't going to give Clifford or Lewis more money than he thinks they deserve, but I don't think the cap is going to price us out of either of them.

Agreed. I'm sure it was tough for Vancouver to let him go when they did but his health was an even bigger question mark then that it is now.
If Mitchell is healthy again, our D will be in good shape after losing Scuds.

good scoop, I was glooming on the predicament of having to give one of those guys up. It didn't make any sense after signing ellerby and picking up shultz. In Dean we trust

Just to fill you in, with the new CBA coming into effect, only about 900k of a players salary can be buried in the minors. Therefore, gone are the days where you can demote players to the AHL in an effort to get Cap relief from their salary/cap hit.

I am fully aware of the new rules. Schultz and Ellerby both make 700k, so they would be fine. Martinez makes $1.1 MM which would make him the least ideal choice to send to the AHL, but a possibility if they need to get under the cap.
